Finishing Cabin 1
The kitchen, the bathroom and the interior finishing. Here's what's going in:
The trail down this page runs through time: what we've worked on so far is behind you, the marker shows where we are, and the dotted trail is what's still ahead.

Long before there was a cabin, this was home. We've walked these hundred acres for fifteen years.
The trails, the granite at Big Rock and Little Rock, and the view from the Cliff are the places we kept coming back to. Wintercreek is built around them.
A loop from Cabin 1 up the west side of the property, with rock and wood features along the way.

The trail doesn't close when the bikes are put away. In winter, we groom our trails for snowshoeing and skiing. When the snow melts we transition to hiking and paddling, and all guests have access to swim in One Island Lake.
The first cabin stands on posts above the granite, where the creek meets One Island Lake. The posts, frame and roof are up, and the window walls are in.

The exterior of Cabin 1 is complete, through the winter our work moves to perfecting the interior.

We're walking every hiking and snowshoe trail with GPS. Each one joins the map on this page as it's mapped.
We plan to welcome our first guests in summer 2027, and stay open year round from then on.

My family and I have been building Wintercreek since 2025, on the land we've lived on for the past 15 years. We're excited to share with you the spaces we've always loved: the fire-pit at Little Rock, the lookout at The Cliff, and the trails and creek that wind through a hundred acres of boreal forest at One Island Lake.
Cabin 1 is the first place we've built for guests. It sleeps four, stays warm through winter with its wood stove, and has a sauna and outdoor shower for year round relaxation. It's a half hour drive from Thunder Bay, but feels far removed from city life.
This page is where we'll document our progress, and eventually open booking so we can finally share our slice of paradise with you. Follow along with the journey!
